Bearsted Green Funfair

My name is Michelle Archer. I have been a Quality Assured Ofsted Registered childminder for over 17 years, providing excellent quality care for children in a friendly, stimulating and safe home environment.

My main aim is to encourage and enable children to develop quickly in their early years and do all that I can to ensure that they have the best possible start in life.

I am based in Detling, Maidstone and live with my partner Paul and our daughter Tiarna. I also have 3 grown up boys Luke, Christopher and Dominic. I also have grandchildren Jesse, Bella and Bailey. We also have two little dog’s Smudge (Yorkipoo), and Marley (Shih tzu) that’s what the advertisement said but Marley has another bread inside her which we think could be a spaniel.

I was a foster carer for many years before becoming a registered childminder. I still have contact with my grown up foster children I cared for.

I provide day care form 0-5 year old’s, I also child-mind 5-12 year old’s before and after school and during school holidays.

The little ones enjoy the outdoor activity’s throughout the year. Just because it is raining does not mean we have to be stuck indoors all day, we love to put on our coats, boots and go out puddle jumping. We visit parks, woods, play areas, Leeds Castle, Kent Life, Cobtree Manor, Heritage sites and Historical Gardens in the school holidays. I believe that children learn through having adventures visiting different environments and experiences and as such we are always looking to take the children to new places to explore and learn together.

I use Babysdays. Babysdays is an amazing online software system allowing Childminders to complete all areas of the EYFS quickly and efficiently. Their EYFS Software Application is complex yet simple to manage, designed and developed to assist you with the forms and paperwork involved around all areas of the EYFS which includes the structure of Learning, Development and Care. Each parent receives a secure, password protected, online daily diary of their child’s adventures so that they can share in their activities and development.

Hours of opening are 7.00am – 6.00pm  Monday to Thursday.  I provide a school run to Hollingbourne primary, the younger children enjoy the opportunity to play alongside older children when we are all together.

I try to be always up to date with the new EYFS paperwork and training. I have completed the Quality Assured Childminding Participation Form and I am an Approved Provider that can take eligible families for the ‘free for 2′ scheme.

I am also registered with KCC to deliver the Early Years Funding Entitlement, to a maximum of 15 hours a week, (up to 570 hours) of the year for eligible 3 and 4 year old’s.

If you are able to get up to 30 hours a week (1,140 hours) per year and sometimes have the availability for your child to attend all 30 hours within my setting, this can be discussed.

Working with parents, I like to be as flexible as possible while delivering the 15 hours of free childcare.

You can use your 15 hours:

  • between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Thursday
  • for a minimum of 2 and a half hours a day
  • for a maximum of 10 hours a day

You can split your 15 hours between up to 2 providers, for example a childminder and a nursery . You don’t have to use the whole 15 hours if that seems too much.

If you want more than 15 hours, you will need to pay the extra cost yourself.

I am registered with different childcare vouchers as payment method.

Tax-Free Childcare is a new online government service to help parents to pay for childcare. For every £8 a parent pays into their Childcare Account, they add an extra £2 to your Childcare Account. I have signed up and will be ready as soon as the service starts.

Every child is unique, and develops in their own time. We will encourage their progress and plan for your child’s next steps within our secure, caring and stimulating environment.
